Normal Baby Weight-As the baby born the two questions are frequently asked ‘is baby a boy or girl”? And “what is the weight of the baby?”  If the baby is the boy and healthy then the credit goes to mother. Usually the weight of the normal baby is in between the range of 5 to 9 pounds. And the baby with this weight is considered to be normal enough .usually the mother loves to compare the weight of the baby with other children of that age.

AVERAGE WEIGHT:

The average weight of the baby when it born is about 7 pounds.

INITIAL WEIGHT LOSS;

As the baby born there is average loss of weight, it is usually 10 percent of the total weight, after two weeks it will start to regain weight. After that the babies start to gain weight of average 1 oz per day or approximately 5 oz per week.

DURING FIRST YEAR:

Usually after first five months the weight of the baby get to be doubled and triplet at his first birthday, so tremendous changes are to be seen with regard to the growth and development of the baby after first year.

18 MONTHS OLD BABY WEIGHT;

At the age of 18 months the normal baby gain he weight between 20 to 30.6 pounds. It is the time when the growth rate is slightly less as compared to the first year of the growth rate.

24 MONTH BABY;

Now at this age the weight of the baby get to be four time of his initial growth rate and now the weight of the baby is approximately 22 to 35 pounds.

FACTORS AFFECTING THE WEIGHT INCREASE OF BABY:

  • The increase in weight actually depends upon many factors some of them are following:
  • Maternal physical health.
  • Maternal mental health, if she remain under stress and pressure her can not feed the child properly.
  • Socioeconomic conditions of the parents.
  • Nutrition given to the baby.
  • Metabolism of baby body.
  • Feeding method of the baby.
  • Is there any illness of the body?
  • Genetics to some extent.

So the weight gain by the baby during different periods of their growth depends much upon these factors as well as parental care to some extent.
