The 9th edition of Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) came to an end this past Saturday. DFW Fall/Winter 2011 showcased 50 international and regional designers across 35 shows. Earlier, Capital Marketing, owner and organiser of Dubai Fashion Week® (DFW) had announced that the Fall/Winter 2011 (FW11) season will run from 19th until 23rd April 2011 in Zabeel Hall, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Models walked the glossy black ramp in outfits of metallic fabric, silk georgettes, leather and velvet. A metal ikat pattern, designed from scratch was seen in a number of the outfits as geometrical prints of hexagonal shapes featured heavily in the 41 spectacular creations that defined the collection.
“We are committed to Dubai Fashion Week as one of the most important components of fashion design industry, providing a one of its kind regional avenue to give designers the opportunity to showcase their seasonal collections twice every year to all industry stakeholders. This year we have 49 designers participating for DFW FW2011, which include 20 Arab designers, of which 8 are UAE nationals”, said Capital Marketing and Dubai Fashion Week’s Chairman Manoj Bhojwani while commenting.
DFW owner and producer, Capital Marketing, made an interesting decision to hold the fashion event at Dubai’s World Trade Center — the contrast of the “tent” atmosphere of international fashion weeks and last year’s extravaganza.
