1st Trimester, First Trimester Bleeding

First Trimester BleedingWhen you notice bleeding during pregnancy, don’t be tensed, be cool and think over. As getting panic is always not good for health and to think or fight over unusual one need to calm down first as the situation here tells that the unusual bleeding during pregnancy does not always lead to miscarriage. Whether it is red in color or not this may not be necessarily miscarriage. Normally majority of the pregnant women who gave birth to a baby successfully must have noticed this kind of bleeding some or the other time. During early pregnancy or the first trimester, it is known as implantation bleeding.

Common Causes:

During the first three months, the bleeding may be due to involvement in sex and this is because the cervix is sensitive and this need not be considered as an infection. It is normal condition that the blood flow to cervix will be high during that period and hence there can be few spots of bleed whenever there is contact to that area. During the first 12 weeks of pregnancy miscarriage generally happens due to bleeding. Implantation bleeding happens when the uterus wall gets the egg embedded. The bleeding during this time is lighter than the normal menstrual period.  It happens for some time only so need not consider it as normal menstrual cycle. And if this implantation occurs beside uterus is called ectopic pregnancy that is found in almost 60% females. These women have severe pain in the abdomen and they faint normally as this can cause serious internal bleeding as the outside developed embryo cannot give normal baby. Placenta previa also causes bleeding which needs to be taken care immediately that rarely occurs and pre term pregnancy can also be another cause.

Prevention methods:

Firstly be tension free and start breathing deeply without having the misconception that there can be miscarriage due to bleeding as most women do often and take necessary steps to know the color of bleeding and whether it is heavy that can help the doctor to have more information for the treatment if necessary. Be away from sex during this period. Don’t neglect such situations and be in touch with the gynecologist. Treatment depends on the causes. Slight bleeding stops on its own but consulting the physician is must as sometimes there can be a risk to mother also. And especially women with negative blood groups should go to hospital within 72 hours especially O-and A-. Tampons should be avoided and it is good if one goes through all lab and medical tests that are necessary to know the condition of the pregnancy at that time and can also explain the doctor in detail. These methods and suggestions can help in welcoming a healthier baby.
